My name is Wendy and I am one of the founders of Phoenix Song Cyrcle. Most of the time I can be found Athena Academy, where I chronicle the (mis)adventures of Pagan homeschooling my son, and living on an overseas military base.
I am from Massachusetts and resided in Dover, Delaware for 10 years before our move to South Korea in July of 2009. During the decade in Dover, I met some wonderful people who wanted to establish a coven in the area. They asked me to put my knowledge of Wicca and Paganism to use, to establish a coven, and create an educational structure.
During the process, Phoenix Song Cyrcle was born. The ideals of the coven were acceptance and love, harmony and balance. We wanted to intentionally maintain and eclectic flair, while still delving deeply into the mysteries of the world, the universe, and deity through discussion, education and ritual.
I was High Priestess of the coven during this time, and relinquished the role to the Maiden (with tears of both joy and sadness) earlier this summer. Although I am currently living overseas, I remain the Education Coordinator and am the first “retired” coven officer; now an Elder of Phoenix Song Cyrcle, I still advise and mentor the High Priestess, and the coven itself.
By way of a short bio, I have been on the Path for 25 years. I will reside in South Korea with my husband and son (who is 6 1/2 as of this posting) until November of 2010, at which time we hope to be stationed in Europe. My personal Craft interests are the Dianic and Erisian traditions, working with the deities of the Hindu, Sumerian, and Greek pantheons, and currently I find myself increasingly drawn to the Arthurian and Avalonian paths.
I am a writer and genealogist. Most of my work has appeared in Pagan publications including Circle Magazine, newWitch, and PagaNet News. I currently volunteer as an editor and proofreader (and writer on-demand) for The Beltane Papers. My next project is hush-hush, but well underway.
And, as I said above, I homeschool my son. We have a fairly eclectic style, utilizing “The Well-Trained Mind” and Charlotte Mason method as our guides. I tend to identify with secular homeschoolers, and am always thrilled to find other Pagan homeschoolers.
Many Blessings.
